Parts<\/a>:<\/strong> N\u00f3s temos por volta de 30 anos. Vivemos no Brooklyn em Nova Iorque e somos nascidas e criadas em Maryland, perto de Washington.
\nMahx<\/a>:<\/strong> Parts e Ginny se conhecem desde que nasceram e elas cresceram juntas. Eu conheci a Parts por volta de 10 anos atr\u00e1s, come\u00e7amos a fazer performances de dan\u00e7a juntas, e eu depois conheci a Ginny atrav\u00e9s da Parts. Xplastic: Como seu pa\u00eds lida com quest\u00f5es relacionadas ao trabalho envolvendo sexo?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ginny:<\/strong> \u00c9 complicado, mas ainda notamos nosso pa\u00eds como muito regressivo em termos pol\u00edticos. Muitas formas de trabalho envolvendo sexo ainda s\u00e3o criminalizadas nos E.U.A (por exemplo, prostitui\u00e7\u00e3o em bord\u00e9is ainda \u00e9 ilegal na grande maioria do pa\u00eds com exce\u00e7\u00e3o de alguns lugares em Nevada), por\u00e9m a execu\u00e7\u00e3o destas leis \u00e9 deixada para cada estado. Fazer pornografia \u00e9 legal em Nova Hampshire e Calif\u00f3rnia, e em grande parte pode ser defendida pela primeira emenda do pa\u00eds, que d\u00e1 direito \u00e0 liberdade de express\u00e3o. Por\u00e9m a suprema corte americana declarou \u201cobscenidade\u201d como ato n\u00e3o defendido pela primeira emenda, e deixou a defini\u00e7\u00e3o aberta para interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o. Ent\u00e3o a pornografia \u00e9 protegida como direito desde que (e somente se) a corte suprema n\u00e3o (talvez arbitrariamente) a defina como obscena. Existe muito estigma em torno do trabalho sexual e da pornografia, como tamb\u00e9m com a sexualidade de uma forma geral.<\/p>\n

Xplastic: Qual foi seu primeiro contato com a pornografia?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ginny:<\/strong> Eu comecei a assistir porn\u00f4 quando eu era relativamente nova, talvez 13 anos, algo assim. Eu a utilizava como uma explora\u00e7\u00e3o da minha pr\u00f3pria sexualidade (\u00e0s vezes somente o espectro da sexualidade humana no geral) em um tempo em que eu estava constantemente sendo alertada sobre vitimiza\u00e7\u00e3o. As pessoas estavam t\u00e3o atentas que eu sabia que poderia \u201csomente dizer n\u00e3o\u201d que elas raramente falavam comigo sobre desejo. Sendo uma adolescente, era como se eu n\u00e3o tivesse nenhum, o que \u00e9 bem desumanizador se voc\u00ea parar pra pensar. Sexualidade e desejo e trabalho s\u00e3o partes t\u00e3o gigantes no processo de amadurecimento, e a pornografia me deu a chance de explorar essas coisas eu mesma. Nem sempre foi \u00e9tico, na real eu me sentia mais confiante quando o que eu estava assistindo n\u00e3o era eticamente produzido (como a grande parte do que consumimos). Eu quero fazer porn\u00f4 que minha vers\u00e3o mais jovem tivesse orgulho de assistir.
\nMahx:<\/strong> O primeiro porn\u00f4 que eu assisti foi \u201cEdward Penis Hands\u201d (Edward M\u00e3os de P\u00eanis) em uma festa na faculdade. Foi meio que engra\u00e7ado mas na verdade nojento, e ningu\u00e9m falava de forma aberta sobre o tipo de porn\u00f4 que eles realmente assistiam, ou o que verdadeiramente excitava-os. Eu n\u00e3o comecei de fato a ver pornografia at\u00e9 depois da faculdade, e a grande maioria n\u00e3o prendia a minha aten\u00e7\u00e3o. De vez em quando eu assistia algo que me chamava aten\u00e7\u00e3o, mas a maioria era apenas est\u00fapido e sem cora\u00e7\u00e3o. Eu tive sim v\u00e1rias experi\u00eancias como adolescente em assistir coisas que eu sentia como er\u00f3ticas. A maior parte em filmes de a\u00e7\u00e3o – como em batidas em c\u00e2mera lenta, explos\u00f5es – e algumas em performances de dan\u00e7a ao vivo – ter a oportunidade de ver corpos. Eu me sentia bem excitada em assistir coisas com essa beleza m\u00e1xima mesmo que n\u00e3o fossem sexuais. Me lembro de ver o segundo filme do Matrix quando estreou no cinema e foi quase org\u00e1stico assistir algumas das cenas de luta. Eu n\u00e3o acho que tinha sentido isso assistindo porn\u00f4 at\u00e9 que comecei a ir em festas sexuais e ver as pessoas transando ao vivo. Aquilo foi extremamente atraente e excitante de assistir, e por a\u00ed eu consegui encontrar esse estilo de sexo em porn\u00f4 homo. Mas eu ainda fico com tes\u00e3o assistindo quase qualquer coisa em c\u00e2mera lenta.<\/p>\n

Xplastic: Em que momento e o que fez voc\u00eas pensarem que tamb\u00e9m poderiam ser profissionais do sexo?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parts:<\/strong> N\u00f3s tr\u00eas temos uma tradi\u00e7\u00e3o de anualmente fazer um ensaio nu como uma maneira de celebrar nossos corpos e nossa amizade. Estar confort\u00e1vel em nossos corpos \u00e9 um fator gigante e todas somos artistas.
\nGinny:<\/strong> Eu fazia strip em um clube de Nova Iorque por um breve per\u00edodo no come\u00e7o do meus vinte anos, eu insistia n\u00e3o ser uma profissional do sexo. Talvez pelo estigma que tantas pessoas acabam associando ao trabalho sexual ou pelo meu pr\u00f3prio desconforto. Foi s\u00f3 quando come\u00e7amos a fazer pornografia nos \u00faltimos anos e conversando com outras pessoas da ind\u00fastria, outros profissionais do sexo, que eu senti que poderia utilizar esse t\u00edtulo. Mahx:<\/strong> Eu tenho um conhecimento sobre performance experimental (algo entre dan\u00e7a e arte perform\u00e1tica), ent\u00e3o eu acho que muito do meu trabalho tem refer\u00eancia desse tipo de arte. Eu prefiro que as performances sejam aut\u00eanticas e sem roteiro, ao inv\u00e9s de apresenta\u00e7\u00f5es que tentam atuar ou fazer m\u00edmica de algo, e eu estou interessada em tirar coisas dos atores\u00a0que sejam inesperadas. Estou mais interessada em fazer algo intrigante do que fazer algo sexy de uma maneira j\u00e1 esperada. Visualmente, acho que sou muito atra\u00edda pela exuber\u00e2ncia e est\u00e9ticas extremas. Sou muito f\u00e3 de filmes de a\u00e7\u00e3o e sci-fi, e amo tentar recriar algo desses filmes com grandes or\u00e7amentos e qualidade super HD em um filme \u201cfa\u00e7a voc\u00ea mesmo\u201d.<\/p>\n

Parts:<\/strong> N\u00f3s acreditamos que dar visibilidade a corpos realistas e diversos tendo entusiasticamente e com consentimento\u00a0experi\u00eancias \u00e9 algo positivo em que podemos contribuir com a sociedade. E oferecer pornografia \u00e9tica para pessoas em um pre\u00e7o acess\u00edvel.
\nGinny:<\/strong> Assistir a pornografia quando eu era mais jovem me deu acesso a partes do meu desejo que seriam completamente ignoradas ou suprimidas de outra forma. Eu acredito que a pornografia pode ajudar as pessoas a acessar seus desejos e desenvolver um amor pr\u00f3prio e autoconhecimento mais profundos. Porn\u00f4 deve ser produzido de forma \u00e9tica, como a Parts diz, de maneira a ser considerado uma contribui\u00e7\u00e3o positiva.
\nMahx:<\/strong> Eu tamb\u00e9m acho que o porn\u00f4 tem poder de validar indiv\u00edduos – Acho que \u00e9 uma maneira de dizer que n\u00e3o tem nada errado em ter um corpo, ou um cora\u00e7\u00e3o, ou um orgasmo. Que todos somos humanos animais, e que queremos foder e sobreviver e amar e ser amados. Eu acho que o porn\u00f4 homo especialmente tem um jeito de lutar por pessoas que s\u00e3o desvalorizadas ou oprimidas pelo resto majorit\u00e1rio da sociedade – \u00e9 uma maneira de dizer que apenas tolerar as diferen\u00e7as de outra pessoa n\u00e3o \u00e9 o suficiente – ao inv\u00e9s disso n\u00f3s vamos lutar pelo seu pr\u00f3prio prazer, pela sua completa e complicada lux\u00faria humana. \u00c9 uma maneira de se conectar, de abrir voc\u00ea mesmo para a intimidade, vulnerabilidade e poder de outra pessoa.<\/p>\n

Parts (@Call_me_partsauthority<\/a><\/strong>):<\/strong> We are all about 30 years old. \u00a0We live in Brooklyn, NY and were all born and raised in Maryland, near Washington D.C.
\nMahx (@MahxCapacity):<\/strong> Parts and Ginny have known each other since before they were born and they grew up together. I met Parts about ten years ago, and we started making dance and performance works together, and so I met Ginny through Parts. We all lived together for a while (Ginny and I still do) and are good freinds, and we started making porn together about two years ago.
\n
\nXplastic: How your country deals with issues related to sex work?<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Ginny (@GinnyWoolfX<\/a><\/strong>):<\/strong> It’s complicated, but our country still feels very regressive in terms of its policies. Many forms of sex work are criminalized in the U.S. (for example, brothel prostitution is illegal in the vast majority of the country with the exception of some parts of Nevada) but the enactment\/enforcement of these laws is left up to individual states. Making pornography is legal in New Hampshire and California, and can be generally defended under our country<\/span>‘s 1st Amendment, which gives the right to free speech. However, our Supreme Court has declared “obscenity” unprotected by the 1st Amendment, and left its definition open to interpretation, so porn is protected only insofar as the highest court does not (perhaps arbitrarily) define it as “obscene.” There’s a lot of stigma around sex work and pornography, as well as just sexuality in general.<\/span><\/p>\n

Xplastic:\u00a0What was your first contact with pornography?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ginny:<\/strong> I started watching porn when I was relatively young, maybe 13 or so. I used it as an exploration of my own sexuality (sometimes just the spectrum of human sexuality in general) at a time when I was often being warned about victimization. <\/span>People were so intent that I know that I could “just say no” they very rarely talked to me about desire. Being a teenage girl, it was as if I didn’t have any, which is pretty dehumanizing if you think about it. Sexuality and desire and agency are such enormous parts of coming-of-age, and porn gave me the chance to explore those things on my own. It wasn’t always ethical; in fact I feel confident much of what I was watching was not ethically produced (like so much of what we consume). I want to make porn that my younger self would have felt proud to watch.
\n<\/span>Mahx:<\/strong> The first porn that I ever saw was “Edward Penis Hands” at a party in college. It was kind of funny, but mostly just gross, and no one was openly talking about what kind of porn they <\/span>did<\/span><\/i> watch, or what actually turned them on. I didn’t start really watching porn until after college, and most of it didn’t grab me. Every once in a while I’d see something that would catch my attention, but most of it was kind of mindless and heartless. I did have a lot of experience as a teen watching things that felt erotic to me. A lot of it was in action movies – slow motion car crashes, explosions – and some of it was in live dance performance – getting to watch bodies. I felt very turned on watching things that had maximal beauty to them even if they weren’t meant to be sexual – I remember seeing the second Matrix film when it came out in the theaters and almost orgasming watching some of the fight scenes. I don’t think I ever felt that way watching porn until I started going to sex parties and seeing people fuck live – that felt HUGELY compelling and exciting to watch, and then from there, I was able to find that kind of fucking in queer porn. But I still get turned on by watching just about anything in slow motion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Xplastic:\u00a0At what time, and what made you think that you could also be a sex worker?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parts:<\/strong> The three of us have a tradition of doing a yearly nude photoshoot as a way to celebrate our bodies and friendship. Being comfortable with bodies is a big factor, and we’re all performers.
\n<\/span>Ginny:<\/strong> I stripped at a New York club briefly in my early 20s, and insisted that I was not a sex worker, maybe because of the stigma that many people associate with sex work\/my own discomfort. It wasn’t until we started making porn in the past couple of years, and and talking to other people in the industry, other sex workers, that I felt like I could start to own the title. Now I feel honored by it.<\/span><\/p>\n

Xplastic:\u00a0Whats is you role at AORTA Films?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mahx:<\/strong> Ginny, Parts and myself run AORTA films a collective, and we share the administrative responsibility of keeping our small company running. \u00a0We each have different skill sets that we bring to the table. \u00a0Ginny and Parts are primarily performers and producers, and I’m primarily the director and producer. I’ve started to perform in a few films, and Ginny and Parts have started to have more of a creative role as well though, so we all sort of do everything. We just added a 4th person to the collective, the amazing Bunny Wolfcave who is a social media expert–she’s joined our team to help us reach more people. We want to keep expanding!<\/span><\/p>\n

Xplastic:\u00a0What are your main references to create your cinematic works?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mahx:<\/strong> I come from an experimental performance background (kind of somewhere between dance and performance art), so I think a lot of my work references those values. I prefer performances to be authentic and un-scripted rather than performers acting something out or miming something, and I’m interested in pulling things from performers that are unexpected. I’m more interested in making something interesting than making something that’s sexy in an expected way. Visually, I think I am very enamored of lush and maximal aesthetics. I am a huge fan of action and sci-fi movies, and love trying to get some of that big-budget super HD luxe feel on a super small DIY budget. <\/span><\/p>\n

Xplastic:\u00a0What books would you recommend for someone who just made 18?<\/strong><\/p>\n

I love seeing pornography that’s unexpected – whether it makes me cringe or laugh or get hard, to me seeing something new is the most exciting thing. Xplastic:\u00a0How pornography can contribute positively to society?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parts:<\/strong> We believe that visibility of real and diverse bodies having enthusiastically consensual experiences is a positive thing we can contribute to society. \u00a0And offering ethical porn to people at an affordable price.
\n<\/span>Ginny:<\/strong> Watching porn when I was young gave me access to parts of my desire that would have been totally ignored or suppressed otherwise. I think that porn can help people access their desire and develop a deeper self-love and self-knowledge. Porn must be ethically produced, as Parts says, in order to be considered a positive contribution.
\nMahx:<\/strong> I also think that porn has the power to validate individuals – I think it’s a way of saying that there’s no wrong way to have a body, or a heart, or an orgasm. That we’re all human animals, and we just want to fuck and survive and love and be loved. I think that queer porn especially has power as a way to fight for people who are devalued or oppressed by larger society – it’s a way to say that just tolerating someone’s difference isn’t enough – instead we’re going to fight for their joy, for their fully complicated lush humanity. It’s a way of connecting, of opening yourself to someone else’s intimacy and vulnerability and power.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Xplastic: Where did the name Aorta Films come from?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mahx:<\/strong> There’s a poster in my room of a heart, and all the parts are labeled. I looked at it one day and it just clicked – AORTA! I like that it’s like going for the jugular–it feels powerful and full of life!<\/span>
\n<\/span><\/p>\n

Xplastic: What is aorta’s business model?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mahx:<\/strong> We run as a subscription model through Patreon, where backers can pay $9\/month to get full access to our site. We also have a few individual supporters who allow us to work on bigger projects and take risks, and are always excited to meet folks who want to help bring our work to life. We’re very DIY and scrappy. <\/span><\/p>\n

Xplastic: What do you know about Brazil?<\/strong><\/span>
\nParts: <\/strong>I know a few very creative Brazilians.
\nGinny: <\/strong>I’ve never been, but imagine a really beautiful, varied landscape and an intense\/vibrant art scene.
\nMahx: <\/strong>It’s one of my goals for next year to learn Portuguese! My aunt and uncle spend a lot of time in Brazil as part of their church, and their stories and photos from their time there are amazing.
